Like Ships passing in the night

Heading out of town. Not exactly excited about it. Dealing with aging parents is never easy. Dealing with ones who are in way over their head is not fun. Dealing with one who has some dementia, doesn't like change, and refuses to admit she is sick and can no longer take care of herself is even less fun. She's been in and out of the hospital. In and out of rehab care, stroke, can't really walk anymore, heart problems, diabetes that can't be controlled, etc.

My brother went up to start the process a few weeks ago. But things being the way they are, things didn't go as planned and the little progress he was making came to a stand still and then all progress was lost. So we are going together.

One of them is finally ready to accept the truth and do what needs to be done. The other not so much. The dementia doesn't help. It's hard on everyone. Hopefully we can make the right decisions, the right choices. Good ones that let us help them.

Couldn't have come at a worse time. The kids are just going back to school. Dh is traveling here there and everywhere. Not a great time for me to be needing to travel as well. He and I are going to be like ships passing in the night for a while. He'll fly in. I'll fly out. I'll fly in. He'll fly out. Ugh! Oh well, it is what is it. We'll make the best of it.

Good thoughts and prayers would be appreciated
